The most beautiful book, highlighting the idea of the home as a sanctuary. So much inspiration. I just keep picking it up to flick through - a total joy-giver.

Watching (on the small screen)…
The Studio Season One
I can’t remember now who recommended this to me, but I’ve been dipping in and out (it’s episodic, so perfect for tv commitment-phobes) and really enjoying it. It follows a legacy Hollywood movie studio striving to survive in a world where it’s increasingly difficult for art and business to co-exist.
I’m not a Seth Rogan fan (sorry, not sorry), but his character is so believable (he literally makes my toes curl - I think the exact term is ‘cringe comedy’?), he’s brilliant. There are various celebrity cameos too, which is always a great addition in any comedy in my opinion. Oh and let’s not forget that Catherine O’Hara’s in it too! And of course, she’s just brilliant.
Some episodes are definitely funnier than others, but episode 2 (‘The Oner’) is SO funny, I was literally laughing out loud the whole way through.
Whoever did recommend it (was it you?), also said they knew someone in the film industry who confirmed that it’s spot-on. Love that.
Find it it on Apple TV
7 Soho Home Sale Picks…
Hillcrest Cereal Bowls, Set of Four | Aiden mirror | Treviso pink mirror |
Joni Arc Floor Lamp | Avenell Water Glass, Set of Four | Hilcrest serving bowl
| Sylvester Coffee Table
I’m not the biggest fan of Soho Home, but I do think their sales are always worth a look. This is a tight edit for sure. I love the Aiden mirror.
I haven’t included the prices because there are two for each item, depending on whether you’re a member or not. So with the sale and original price for each, that’s A LOT of credits…
Listening To…
I am currently on a 12 day ‘streak’ worth my daily 10k steps. I have been walking mostly in the evening, which I’m really enjoying - so peaceful. I often just walk alone, minus my earbuds (to quieten my mind), but I have started going back to podcasts as a I stroll. My favourite is still Desert Island Discs (I like to listen to a mix of recent and archive ones). I have listened to, and really enjoyed, firstly, Danny Dyer (I have never seen an episode of Eastenders with him in, nor anything else for that matter, bar Rivals, which I loved! I loved his honesty about drugs and addiction, and his experience of working with Harold Pinter. Fascinating. Then Nicole Kidman (this is a VERY old one - she had just finished shooting Eyes Wide Shut!!), which I really enjoyed (I just love her voice so much). I must admit, I find the Sue Lawley’s interviewing style quite jarring and hugely insensitive at times, particularly when talking to women. I think Nicole handled it really graciously. I really felt for her. I wonder if you’d feel the same? Let me know? I am now halfway through Nick Cave, which I am thoroughly enjoying too.
And Last, But Not Least…
Towelling is having a moment, and I’m loving this Suzie Kondi-esque set. Wear with simple flip flops or ballet pumps.
And that’s a wrap for the June round-up. Thanks for reading. If you’re enjoying these posts and fancy getting them more often, you might want to consider upgrading to a paid subscription (literally for the price of a coffee). You will also get full access to the complete archive of posts (getting close to a year’s worth now!). I am still loving putting these (free) monthly edits together, but it’s the other posts where I sometimes like to ‘go deeper’ and get more personal (also with smaller edits of things I’m loving in all areas of my life - fashion, home, beauty style…). Anyway, something to consider - zero pressure obviously.
See you next time! In the meantime, thank you for all your continued support. It means the world. Have a gorgeous weekend ahead!
ps: I went to the (just opened) Free People (I love Free People!) store in Richmond yesterday, and I fell in love with two things - this barn jacket (size down there, it comes up big!) and this bias-cut skirt (I love it dressed down with a tee/sweatshirt and flip-flops/sandals, and the lace panels are so gorgeous!).
pps: this is very niche location-wise (sorry!), but I recently had a Sunday roast with my family at The Greyhound pub on Kew Green, and it was excellent. Delicious and great value. Would definitely recommend (and I think roasts are very tricky to pull off in pubs). It’s not in any way cool, fancy, or pretty, but the roast was a 10/10 (and between us we ordered the chicken, lamb, pork and nut roasts, and they were all excellent), and the service and staff were excellent/lovely.
ppps: if you enjoyed this post, please do ‘like’ with a heart, comment or share - it’s hugely appreciated and really does help with my posts being seen on Substack. Plus I always love reading your comments! xx
pps: if you’re enjoying Douceur Diaries (thank you), you will probably also enjoy my website, Douceur.uk (if you’re not already!). Sunday Style is always (and always has been) the most popular (and the chunkiest) of all the edits (a high-low mix of all my favourite fashion finds from the week), and drops in your inbox at 7am every Sunday. You can subscribe (for free) here.
