Five Things I've Ordered This Week...
Four fashion, one book. Oh, and what I'm listening to, watching etc. etc.
Hi!
How are you? How’s your week been? I don’t know about you, but I am now fully Autumned up and back in my favourite fashion combo of jumper, jeans and boots (with a heel, but not too high as I’m always running around). Cosy and cool. I’ve been wearing this jacket and these boots on repeat, and can highly recommend both.
So this week I’ve ordered more things than usual, so I thought they were worth sharing.
Let’s go…
What I’ve been ordering online (this week)…
1.
I have a lot (*coughs) of pretty white and cream blouses. A lot. These have been collected over the course of many years, and have a permanent residency in my wardrobe (only the short sleeved ones get to hibernate for the winter in the attic). They are all slightly different, and they are a mix of designer and (mostly) High Street. And I love them all. But what I have only just realised, is that almost none of them have buttons/any kind of opening/fastening at the front. They almost all do up at the back, and have either a round or high neck. But I have now realised (decided) that what I want in a pretty/feminine/romantic blouse is something a little more nonchalant, ‘undone’ and dare I say it (maybe just whisper?), sexier… And this requires a different kind of neckline. I am already settled comfortably into my Autumn ‘uniform’, which currently consists of (it’s pretty mild here in London) some kind of jean (anything from a tapered straight, high-waisted flare, barrel, and high-waisted straight, paired with some kind of blazer (ideally tweed). But what I want to add is a (tucked in, but in that relaxed, un-strict way) a Chloé-esque gorgeous blouse. So I’ve been looking and have ordered this Zara one (above). It doesn’t button all the way down, but the neckline is a deep v and that works (I also want to layer various gold necklaces of different lengths). I also think it could be worn in different ways, for varying effect, as it’s quite long. So let’s see how it works IRL.
This was my second favourite, and I am also tempted to get this (I have the black and it was my most-worn blouse/top of the summer and beyond). It’s the perfect length for wearing with high-waisted jeans (I love it with flares). Don’t let the pics put you off - I wear mine with a silk camisole under).
2.
The Row-esque loafers that are more like The Row ones than the actual Row ones (think Kris and Kim). Mine are en-route. I will always love my classic ballet flats (and not just the Chanels!) and flat Mary Janes, but I fancy a little switch-up with the flat shoes this Autumn. Loafers are entering the conversation. I’ll be wearing these with pale/mid-blue wash jeans.
3.
This just arrived today, and it’s a goodie for sure. Again, another Chloé dupe (eeeek, hate that word). I generally steer clear of High Street bags, as I am have built up a pretty solid (but small) collection of classics over many, many years, that I love and rotate. It’s not that I’m a snob about High Street handbags (not at all), I just think you have to approach with caution, as most do end up looking cheap. Fact. This one? Not so. The handle is weighty, and the size is great - I specifically wanted a small-ish hand-held bag (it does come with a shoulder strap inside, but personally I wouldn’t - they are almost always the downfall of the High Street bag in my experience. Mine will not see the light of day). I actually thought it was black when I ordered, but have discovered that it’s actually navy. But a very, very dark navy. So that’s fine by me. I will (unsurprising) be wearing mine with blue denim.
4.
Another thing I wanted for Autumn (also to wear with jeans) was a denim shirt. But specifically a Western style one. I have seen this one IRL in my local M&S and it looks great. I haven’t tried it on yet, but I am to tomorrow. Like the blouse, I will wear it tucked into to high-waist jeans, and unbuttoned low-ish. Then I’ll wear boots, and either a tweed blazer, or barn jacket over.

, and currently en route…Oh my God, this blazer… I first spotted it at the Wiggy Kit ‘salon show’ in her (gorgeous - go if you can!) Pop Up a couple of weeks ago, and it was love at first sight. It has a spicy price tag for sure, but honestly, I know I would wear this THE whole time, and you probably would too. So it’s now on my Wish List. Wiggy’s pieces are expensive, but they’re beautifully made and the design is always, always considered. I also love that she designs very instinctively (no trend-chasing), and just somehow seems to know exactly what we want to wear.
Oh and I know you have heard me wanging on about this before, but I had an Isabel Marant blazer that was pretty similar to this one, which I bought a few years ago. I literally wore it out. It paid for itself ten times over.
Watching…
Traitors
Obviously. Soooooo good. But please, please can Insta stop ruining it for people who aren’t necessarily watching it in real time. So far, we’ve (it’s a family affair, which is a rarity these days, and so nice) only watched the first episode, but (sadly) I know the first two victims. Grrrrrr.
Victoria Beckham
Haven’t gone in yet, but that’s definitely happening some time tomorrow (after my 7am strength training, when my Saturday smugness it’s at its absolute peak, so an uninterupted hour of sofa viewing is an absolute must). Looking forward to this. Have you watched it yet?
The Morning Show
Two episodes (or is it three?) in (to season 4) and I’m now fully onboard
Slow Horses
Not gonna lie, I’m not loving it as much as the previous seasons, but it’s still pretty bloody great isn’t it?
Listening to…
Fashion Neurosis with Nick Knight
I listened to this over the course of a few days (it’s along one), on my daily walks. Loved every second. Fascinating.
Listen here.
That’s a wrap for today. Thank you, as always, for being here.
