14 Of My Favourite Restaurants in London

Some I've been coming to for as long as I've lived in London (over 30 years), and one I only went to for the first time this year. But they all made the edit, and here's why...

This is not so much my little black book (you’re probably not going to find any big surprises here - sorry), but I just wanted to share my favourites. Places that are special to me, hold special memories, and as a result, are places that I return to time and time again, year after year. So actually, this does feel like quite a personal share, as all of these places carry meaning (some small, some huge).
What they probably all have in common is that they are all quite ‘classic’ for want of a better word. I am generally not a fan of the latest ‘hot spot’, in the same way that I don’t like fashion fads or one-hit wonders. I will try somewhere new if invited (and I’m often lucky enough to be invited for work) , but as a person I do tend to gravitate to the familiar, whether it’s restaurants, people, clothes, style or places.
I must also say that most of these recommendations are at the pricier end of the spectrum. But these are not places I go to all the time (well some, more than others I guess, but we’ll get into the details in a minute). Some maybe only once a year. Anyway, I just thought I’d share them, and why I love them, and who I go to them with. There are a few inexpensive ones too - even a ‘cheap as chips’ option). Oh and they are all in London I’m afraid. But this is where I live, so this is mostly where I am eating. So if London is not your home, make a note of any that pique your interest, and add them to your iPhone notes (or better still, write them in your notebook) for when you do find yourself in The Big Smoke. Bon appetit!
